AICUF

The All India Catholic University Federation is a movement of university students with a vision for a new and just society. It is indicated by the abbreviation AICUF.

Aims & Objectives

To cultivate in students a deep and genuine concern for the oppressed and marginalised and to effectively commit themselves to the task of building a new and just society.

To motivate students to become involved in studies, research and activities linked to the broader social issues and struggles with a view to becoming a creative and critical force within the university.

To enable Christian students to play a prophetic role in their communities through a living and critical understanding of their faith, drawing inspiration from the Gospels, the Eucharist and their prayer life.

AICUF ever tries to link to the emerging needs and realities of the university, the church and the wider society.

The SJEC AICUF unit participated at the AICUF Day Celebrations held at St Aloysius College on Sunday, 20th of March 2011. The day began with Holy Mass in the Aloysius Chapel at 9:00 AM, followed by the function in the auditorium. Fr. Almeida, the ex-State Advisor and Prof. Lourdswamy, Professor in English Department of St Aloysius College, were the dignitaries present for the function. AICUF Animators, Presidents and Secretaries were present for the function. Prof Lourdswamy gave us a brief introduction about the origin of AICUF and its activities throughout the state and country. Interactive sessions and quiz and games were conducted and every AICUF member participated in it very actively.



AICUF: SJEC Unit Inauguration

The AICUF-SJEC unit inaugurated on 27th September 2018 at 2:30pm in Bethania Hall. Dr Judy Pinto, Former Vice Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) & Retired Professor in the Department of Hindi –St Aloysius College was the Chief Guest of the program. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director-SJEC presided over the function. Rev.Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assisstant Director, SJEC, Dr Sudheer M, in-charge Principal-SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Head R&D were the Guests of Honour. Ms Ivy Savia Dantis and Mr Swaraj Dominic Lewis, Coordinators of AICUF, Mr Marshall Silveria - President of AICUF were also present on the dais. Mr Marshall Silveria welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. The association was inaugurated by unveiling the logo. Secretary of AICUF Ms Raksha read the annual report of association activities for the year 2017-18 and proposed the plan of events for the current year. Dr Judy Pinto in her speech informed that AICUF is not only for catholic but it’s for all religion students. Dr Sudheer M advised the students to do more charity work under the banner of AICUF. He also mentioned to celebrate one day as AICUF Day. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza in his presidential address appreciated the students for voluntarily joining the association. Mr Desmond, Joint Secretary of AICUF proposed the vote of thanks. After the inauguration, the Chief Guest gave a talk on Human Values. In her talk she spoke about five values love, peace, truth, right conduct and non-violence.

AICUF: Inauguration of activities for 2016-2017

AICUF SJEC Unit organized its inaugural function for the year 2016 - 2017 on 20th August 2016 at Bethania Hall at 1:30 pm. Rev. Fr Rohit D’Costa, Director Incharge – SJEC graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr Rio D'souza, Vice Principal – SJEC was the Guest of Honour. Mr Chris D'Souza, Former President of AICUF was also present at the function. New faculty coordinators Ms Sheetal and Ms Jyotsna were also present. 
The programme began with the blessings of the Almighty. Ms Merril Mathias and group led the audience in the prayer song. Mr Brendan Gonsalvis, the President of AICUF SJEC Unit for the current year welcomed the gathering. Dignitaries on the dais unveiled the logo and inaugurated AICUF SJEC Association activities for the year 2016-17. 
Ashlee and Gautami introduced AICUF to the 1st year students and presented the annual report of the year 2015-16. Rev. Fr Rohit in his address emphasized on all-round development of every individual. Dr Rio D'souza shared his views on uplifting the society and helping the needy. Mr Chris Douza shared his experiences with AICUF for the past 4 years. A number of fun-filled games were the organized by the volunteers to foster the spirit of friendship and spread happiness. Refreshments were served to all. It was a memorable day for the AICUF family. 

Holy Spirit Mass and Inauguration of AICUF

The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) unit at SJEC organized a formal inauguration of its activities for the current academic session with the celebration of Holy Mass in the College Chapel at 8:30am. The main celebrant was Rev Fr (Dr) Joseph Martis, Director, St Joseph Inter Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu. Director-in charge Rev.Fr.Ajith Menezes, Assistant Director Rev Fr Rohit D’costa, and Campus Counsellor Rev Fr Joseph Cardoza also concelebrated the mass. After mass, Rev Fr Joseph Martis unveiled the AICUF logo as a symbolic gesture.

AICUF is an organization of catholic university students with a vision for a new and just society. It links itself to the emerging needs and realities of universities, the church and society. The members of AICUF stand for the service and liberation of all human beings, as Jesus did, irrespective of caste, sex, language and belief. Students who would like to develop an ethical and creative approach to life, get involved in studies and activities linked to broader social issues and struggles, with a view to become a constructive force within the college or outside, are encouraged to join AICUF, irrespective of their religion. The first meeting was scheduled on 7th Aug 2014, at 1:30 pm at Fr Fred Memorial Hall.
