FDP Integra Series: Preparation for Accreditation

Integra Series 2016, the Faculty Development Program under the aegis of the Department of EEE with prime focus on Accreditation and Integration of the Outcome based Education (OBE) into curriculum was held on Tuesday, 19thJuly 2016 and subsequently on Thursday, 21st of July 2016 in the Spoorthi Conference Hall of AB III.

The afternoon session which began at 2:00 pm was shared by two speakers, Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal and Dean-MCA at SJEC and Dr Shreeranga Bhat, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Coordinator for Accreditation.  The session commenced with the presentation by Dr Rio D’Souza who spoke on Active Learning - the Core of OBE and the best practices in College teaching. While discussing these issues from the student perspective, the participants were well-informed of what is active learning, the need for active learning and how this could be incorportated in the day-to-day teaching. Principles of good teaching practices, categorized active learning strategies, good lecturing and parts of a good lecture were a few topics of interest taken up in his discussion.

The second session of the day was conducted by Dr Shreeranga Bhat, on the topic Accreditation – CO, PO and PSO Assessment Techniques. Elaborate analysis and illustrations covering different aspects of course level attainment, course end survey, PO and PSO attainment methods with direct and indirect assessment schemes were provided and discussed with sufficient level of depth.

These sessions were conducted for the faculty from the Departments of ECE, EEE, CSE and MCA on 19th July 2016. A repeated session of the same was conducted on the 21st July 2016, for the faculty of ME, Civil, MBA and Basic Science Departments.
