Under the Spoorthi series of FDP 2016, a session on Yoga - Key to Better Health and New Life was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the Faculty on 19th July 2016 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the Kalam Auditorium. The resource person for the session was Yoga Rathna Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady. Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady is a retired Senior Health Inspector of Mangaluru City Corporation and is a yoga expert. He has conducted more than 850 yoga camps and has written innumerable books on yoga and is a recipient of many titles and awards.
Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady started the session giving a brief talk on history of yoga as well as various benefits of yoga. This was followed by practical session on various simple but very effective asanas. Benefits of the asanas were also explained which was very useful for the audience. Later in the session Sri Gopalakrishna Delampady explained the healthy eating and drinking habits. Mudras and its importance in the day to day life were also demonstrated. The session ended with the talk on Color therapy and its benefits on health.
