Under the Spoorthi series of FDP 2016, a session on Law for Common Man was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the faculty on 20th July 2016 from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM in Spoorthi Conference Hall. The resource person for the session was Mr M V Shankar Bhat. Mr Bhat is an advocate and was the president of Mangalore Bar Association from 1996-1998. He has authored a number of articles in law journals and a book Karnataka Rent Act and is a guest lecturer in SDM Law College.
Mr Bhat, in his session spoke on Law of inheritance and matrimonial law with respect to different religions. He also gave a brief idea about the Industrial Dispute Act, in which he mentioned about the employer and employee relationship and also mentioned the 3 sections protected under this act- ordinary workman, Government servants and persons in co-operative bodies. Mr Bhat also gave an insight about the consumer forum. Mr Bhat also gave lot of examples from his wide span of experience to make the audience understand the various laws.
