IGNITIA – 2016: Series of Motivational Talk for the Final Year Students organized by the Department of Training & Placements was inaugurated on 6th August 2016, at Bishop Aloysius Paul Conference Hall. Mr Pradeep Gopi, Vice President & Head HR, Robosoft Technologies - Udupi graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address. What Got You Here; Won’t Get You There was the theme of the inaugural address from Mr Gopi. The talk shared information on the various opportunities existing for Engineering Graduates in the competitive real world. Information on decision making, opportunities existing, talents and skills required to successfully step into the corporate world, and tips to face interviews were shared at this event. Students from all the Engineering disciplines and MCA attended the event in large numbers.

The program commenced with a prayer song seeking God’s blessings. Ms Sangeeta Ferrao, Placement Officer of SJEC welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the Chief Guest. The welcome address was followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries and students’ representatives from final year.

Rev. Fr. Rohith D’Costa, Director In-Charge of SJEC in his presidential address encouraged the students to actively take part in all placement activities and advised the students to choose their career carefully, which will be the foundation for the rest of their life. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal of SJEC addressed the gathering, inspiring the students by saying that, this is the right time to achieve the dreams that they were dreaming for the past three years, and he also stressed on the need for graduates from Joseph’s to be innovators rather than run-of-the-mill engineers. He encouraged students to be unique and specialize in their work.

Ms. Sangeeta Ferrao, Placement Officer proposed vote of thanks. Ms Slima Pinto compered the program.
