Activities of CIPHER, the Students’ Association of Computer Science and Engineering Department at SJEC, for the academic year 2016-2017 was inaugurated on 7th September, 2016 in the Kalam Auditorium at 10:30 am.
Subedar Cyril D’souza, Retired Army Officer graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Joseph Lobo, Director-SJEC presided over the inaugural ceremony. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal-SJEC, Rev. Fr Rohith D’costa, Assistant Director-SJEC, and Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal & HOD-CSE were the Guests of Honour. Mr Prathviraj N, the Staff Coordinator and Ms Daphlyn Valento, President- CIPHER were the other dignitaries on the dais.
Ms Daphlyn Valento welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. The glimpses of the activities planned for the current academic year were highlighted in the report presented by Ms Anusha, Secretary-CIPHER. Dr Rio D’Souza spoke about the role of each student and faculty towards the betterment of the Department and the activities hosted by CIPHER.
In his message, Subedar Cyril D’souza shared his experience during the war and inspired the students to stay determined. The Chief Guest honoured the students for their outstanding academic performance in the previous year. The Principal honoured the faculties in whose subjects there were highest number of FCD’s in the previous semester.
In his message, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis wished well for CIPHER and all the upcoming activities to be hosted by the association. He also suggested the students to be creative and bring out new ideas and implement it. The honourable Chief Guest of the day was felicitated with a memento presented by Rev. Fr Joseph Lobo. The formal event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr Rohit Rao, Vice President - CIPHER, followed by the College Anthem.
