SJEC Alumni Association Mangalore Chapter: Blood Donation Camp

SJEC and SJEC Alumni Association- Mangalore Chapter joined hands with White Doves and Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru for a noble cause in organizing voluntary blood donation camp on 7th September 2016, which encouraged the students, staff and alumni to come in big numbers to donate the blood for the Wenlock Hospital and Red Cross, Mangaluru Blood Bank.

The program began with the formal function. Mr Nelson Castelino president of the SJEC Alumni welcomed the dignitaries. Dr Sharath Kumar, Medical Officer and Blood bank in charge Wenlock Hospital spoke on the occasion about the importance of donating blood. Corrine Rasquinha - founder president of White Doves who was the Chief Guest spoke on life in the blood and also gave her personal experiences on the plight of the poor patients in dire need of blood and having no one to help them. She encouraged the students to be permanent donors. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director encouraged the students to make a choice to a save live through voluntary blood donation. He encouraged the students to donate blood which will give them a sense of wellbeing. Principal of SJEC Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis, Vice Principal Dr Rio D’Souza and Dean of Student Welfare and Alumni Affairs, Dr Vincent Crasta, were the dignitaries present on the dais. The formal function ended with a vote of thanks by Mr Carlton Sequeira. The program was well compered by MrJoel Concessao.

The students and staff of SJEC came in large numbers to donate blood. 129 units of blood were collected. The camp which commenced at 9.30 am concluded at 4 pm.
