The Department of Civil Engineering at SJEC organised an industrial visit to Nirmithi Kendra – Surathkal, Mangaluru on 1st October 2016 for its second year students. A total of 70 students participated in the visit. The visit was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and visualization of the use of alternative building materials with appropriate technologies.
Er Rajendra Kalabavi welcomed the students and faculty. The visit helped the students in understanding many alternative technologies which reduces the cost of construction and which can conserve energy by recycling of waste materials. The Model House made up of cost effective building materials was shown to students. Additionally, the practical aspects of construction were explained by giving on-site demonstration of an arch construction process.
