On 13th January 2017, as a first step taken by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of SJEC in partnership with SELCO foundation after signing of the MOU towards the problem statement exchange program which is a key feature of the MOU. This field visit was coordinated by Mr Deepesh S K, Assistant Professor in the Department of EEE.
Eleven faculty members (9 from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and 2 from Mechanical Engineering) along with 33 students (23 from EEE and 10 from Mechanical Engineering) participated in the field visit. The filed visit was conducted to find problem statements which are socially relevant and could result in innovative projects in future. During the visit, the faculty members and the student group visited Janashikshana centre, Mudipu and Government High School, Salethur. This field visit will be followed by a Solar Technician Program scheduled in the Manipal rural lab of SELCO from 19-21st Jan 2017. The problem statements identified by the students were reported to the Faculty Coordinator based on which a selected group of 20 students will get trained in the certified Suryamitra Program.
