The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted the Campus Connect Peer Enablement Program on FP 5.0 for the faculty of CSE and MCA departments on 11th and 12th January 2017. The session was coordinated by a team of faculty led by the Campus Connect SPoC Ms Evita Coelho. This workshop aimed at familiarizing the faculty with the Campus Connect programme in general and also to inform them about the updates made to Foundation Programme 5.0.
The programme began with an Inaugural session. The HOD-Incharge Ms Sridevi Saralaya welcomed the well-trained resource persons Ms Supreetha R, Assistant Professor - CSE, Mr Satyendra Bhat, Assistant Professor - Department of MCA and Mr Ragesh Raju, Assistant Professor - Department of MCA and encouraged the gathered faculty to make maximum use of this opportunity to improve their programming skills.
The session began with Mr Satyendra Bhat introducing the faculty to the updates made to the new FP 5.0. He explained the shift of course delivery from instructor-led classroom training to self-driven, self-paced learning by the students. The resource person also gave basic instructions and procedures to be followed for mentoring the students during the Campus Connect sessions.
Ms Supreetha shared useful information about Python programming - the basics, object oriented concepts and database connectivity. The sessions were informative, interactive and discussion on each topic was followed by a series of quizzes and assignments, encouraging an active participation by the gathered faculty.
Mr Ragesh Raju introduced ‘Scratch’ - A software tool to easily create animations, games, etc. This tool, if used by students could serve as a stepping stone to the more advanced world of computer programming.
This two day workshop was appreciated by all the faculty as it successfully added another beautiful programming language to their knowledge base. At the end of this 2-day programme, the HOD-Incharge appreciated the resource persons for their efforts and presented them with a memento as a token of appreciation. The valedictory session also included prize distribution for the winners of Quizzes conducted during the sessions.
