A seminar on Present scenario in Domestic Wiring was organized for the Final Year students as a finishing school activity. Entrepreneurs, Mr Pradeep Rao & Mr Ratheesh, Managing Directors of Global Spark Electro Engineers - Mangaluru (Alumni of EEE - SJEC Batch of 2014) were the resource persons. The programme was conducted in the Electrical Seminar Hall at 3.00 pm on 7th April 2017.
The objective of this programme was to provide an insight to students on the fundamentals & practical aspects of domestic wiring in buildings. Mr Ratheesh spoke on the essentials of knowledge, skills and licensing required for Electrical consultancy. He also discussed on the electrical safety measures & protection of buildings against electrical hazards. He detailed on different types of house wiring schemes, Earthing, steps involved in quotations for equipment/overhead/underground cables. Also, the information on estimation of materials, quality and time management were discussed.
The outcomes of this talk were that, students gained knowledge on home wiring schemes by preparing an estimate and economics of installation. The resource person also informed that they would provide opportunities for students to work as interns during vacations to enhance their practical knowledge.
