Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza takes charge as Director of SJEC

The Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza has appointed Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza as the Director of SJEC. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza takes over the responsibility from the outgoing Director Rev. Fr Joseph J. Lobo, who served the Institution as Director from 2012 to 2017 with unmatched passion and dedication. Under his leadership, the Institution has witnessed transformational growth to become one of the foremost educational institutions in the region. Fr Lobo will be on study leave pursuing studies and Pastoral ministry in the United States. 

Rev. Fr Prakash D’Souza joined SJEC on 22nd May, 2017 as the Director Designate. Following a month-long understudy, Fr Prakash took over the full charge as Director on 22nd June 2017 in an Installation Ceremony held in the St Pio Chapel of the College.  A prayer service on the occasion was conducted by the Representative of Bishop and Dean of the Vicarate, Rev. Fr Victor Machado. Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal – SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal – SJEC, Deans, and HODs of all Departments were present for the ceremony.

Fr Prakash hails from Agrar, Mangaluru and was ordained as a priest in 1997. He has served as an Assistant Parish in Bendoor and as a Parish Priest at Nerampady. Fr Prakash has served Father Muller Charitable Institutions as Assistant Director from 2003, following which in 2008 he was appointed as Administrator of Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital. Fr Prakash has also served as Principal of St Joseph College – Jeppu for three years. He was on study leave for the past one year at St Rita Church, Cascia.

Fr Prakash holds a diploma in Human Resource and Management and Post-Graduate Degrees in English and Counselling. 

SJEC welcomes Fr Prakash D’Souza to the Campus and wishes him the very best in his role as Director of the Institution. The institution also wishes the outgoing Director, Fr Joseph J. Lobo, the very best in all his future assignments and endeavours.
