EEE – EELS: Seminar on Effects of Recreational Drugs in Institutes of Higher Educations

As a part of VACT activities EELS Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department organized a seminar for Second & Third Year EEE Students on 9th August 2017 in Fr Fred Seminar Hall. Mr Lanson Colaco, Ms Sabha Ali, Ms Shreya and Ms Siddhi, MBBS students of KVG Sullia were the resource persons for this event. The objective of this seminar was to create awareness among the youth on the types of illegal drugs and the consequences of their usage. During the interactive seminar, topics of discussion were: nature and availability of legal & illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, marijuana; elaboration on reasons why people use it; substance abuse and the subsequent health issues.

The students were made conscious of the health effects due to the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and recreational drugs on different parts of the body and how it leads to addiction. They conversed with audience on How to say “No to drugs”. Mr Lanson Colaco asked students to make friends and start talking with people to share their joys and sorrows so as to stay away from all recreational drugs. The seminar was appreciated by all the students and faculty members present on the occasion. Around 80 students attended the talk.
