On the occasion of birth anniversary of Sir M Visvesvaraya, Engineer’s Day 2017 was celebrated in the college on 27th September 2017. The inaugural programme was held in the Kalam Auditorium at 11:00 AM.
Er Ujwal D’Souza, Director of Operations, Marian Projects Pvt. Ltd was the Chief Guest and Mr. Rajeev Kushwah, ITS, Chief Vigilance Officer of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. was the guest of Honour.
The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director SJEC.
Rev Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director SJEC, Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, Dr. Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal and Mr Karthik Madhyastha, Convener of Engineers Day 2017 were present.
The programme started with an invocation. Dr. Sudheer M., (HOD, Mechanical Engineering Department and Dean, Student welfare) delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests to the audience.
This was followed by lighting of lamp ceremony. A video on the life of Sir M Visvesvaraya was played after which the dignitaries on the dais paid homage florally to the photo of Sir M Visvesvaraya.
The guest of Honour Mr. Rajeev Kushwah presented the “Integrity Memento” to the Director in recognition of the initiative of the College in adopting the “Integrity Pledge” of Central Vigilance Commission. He also addressed the students and urged them to be a part of the initiative to make India Corruption free.
Er. Ujwal D’Souza, Chief Guest of the function, addressed the students and highlighted the Seven Qualities of Sir M Visvesvaraya and encouraged the students to imbibe these qualities in their lives.
The prize winners of several competitions held as part of Engineer’s Day 2017 celebrations were honoured.
Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, in his speech spoke about the significance of the day.
The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were honoured by Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC and in his presidential address he urged the students to be honest to themselves and put in their 100 percent potential in achieving their goals.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Karthik Madhyastha, Convener of Engineers Day 2017.
The Programme was compered by Ms Ramya M, Asst. Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The inaugural function was followed by several activities and competitions held across the Engineering Departments in which students participated with great enthusiasm.
