As part of VACT activities, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized two technical seminars on the 23rd September 2017, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the E&E Seminar hall. The technical sessions were intended for the 3rd semester E&E students.
The first technical seminar titled ‘Transformers and Plant Maintenance’ was delivered by Mr Ramesh B Tantri, Engineer, Birla Chemicals, Karwar. The seminar aimed at providing holistic knowledge about Industry Grade Transformers & testing methods used for the same. The seminar gave the students in depth knowledge on transformer tappings, losses and efficiency calculations used by the industry. Focus on certification procedures and industry norms and practices was also stressed. The students appreciated the session and interacted with the resource person to gain more information about transformers and plant maintenance.
The second technical seminar titled 'Industry Grade Digital Energy Meters' was delivered by Mr Sreekesh Udupa, Engineer, L&T Metering, Mysuru. This seminar focused on providing recent knowledge on state of the art technology available with digital energy meters. Meters ranging from the one with a simple LCD display to one with sophisticated DSM technology manufactured by L&T were presented. The technical details of these sophisticated meters were also shared with the student audience. The students were highly appreciative and put forth a number of technical questions to the resource person.
