Mr. Praveen Kamath spoke on the practices of effective teachers. He informed the audience that a teacher should be shameless and extraordinarily selfish to learn everything there is to learn on a subject. He stressed on the fact that each and every teacher should go on to create their own ‘Rock Star Brand’ being well equipped with knowledge on the subject along with skills like storytelling, innovation, enthusiasm to use technology in classrooms, openness for dialogue etc. In addition to verbal communication, he also asked the audience to pay attention to non-verbal signals like eye contact and body language in the classroom. Mr Kamath encouraged the audience to network and strengthen connections with industry personnel such that students benefit from industry knowledge on the subjects being taught. The audience were also motivated with video clippings of creative educators like Sir Ken Robinson, Dr Pravin Bhatia and Bill Gates.
With his enthusiasm and
infectious love for teaching Mr Kamath inspired the audience and left them
introspecting on their current methods of teaching so as to improve and take
classroom teaching to the next level. At the end of the workshop certificates were distributed to the participants and Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash
D’Souza, Director, SJEC, felicitated Mr Kamath with a memento.
