Two-Day Faculty Development Program on Goods and Services Tax (GST)

The biggest Tax reform in our country - GST  having become a reality, has tremendous implication on Indian economy. The unified tax regime has brought in substantial changes in the day-to-day business transactions.

With a view to create an enhanced understanding of GST framework and its effect on economy and industry sectors, The Department of Business Administration at St Joseph Engineering College – Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, has organized a two days FDP for the benefit of all faculty members of Undergraduate and Post graduate programmes across institutions in Mangaluru and neighboring regions.

Dr. Prakash Pinto, Dean, Department of Business Administration, welcomed the august gathering and thanked the dignitaries for their support and cooperation in educating the community on GST. Chief Guest of the function, Capt. Shambhu Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Mangaluru in his inaugural address remarked about the paradigm shift in taxation system in India and the complexities associated with it. Guest of Honour, Mr. B N Rame Gowda, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes highlighted the mental diversity among taxpayers in India and other developed countries. He also stressed the importance of paying taxes for growth of economy. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, SJEC gave an insight on historical developments in taxation in India. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash Dsouza, Director-SJEC presided over the inauguration and expressed the concerns of challenges in implementation of GST. Ms Acharya Chitralekha, Asst Professor, Department of Business Administration conveyed vote of thanks.
