The 41st series of student project programme 2017-18 of Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) Midterm Evaluation was held at St Joseph Engineering College - Mangaluru on Monday, 14 May 2018.
There were 83 projects, out of which 81 projects were on display from Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Biotechnology etc.
Experts from KSCST IISc Campus Bangalore namely Mr S N Sondur, Principal Research Assistant, Mr K N Venkatesh Project Engineer and Mr K N Keshav Project Associate were present.
Experts from NITK Suratkal Prof M R Arulalan, Dr Mrithyunjay Doddamani, Prof Sudhakar C Jambagi and Prof Raviraj Mulangi were also present.
Experts from NAL Dr Chakradhar Scientist and Dr P Siva Subba Rao Scientist were present.
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, Director SJEC and Rev Fr Rohith D'Costa Asst Director SJEC greeted the experts on their arrival.
The inaugural function began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by the judges, Principal – SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Vice Principal-SJEC, Dr Rio D'Souza, and KSCST SPP Co-ordinator-SJEC Prof Prajwal D'Souza.
Prof Prajwal D'Souza welcomed the gathering. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis florally welcomed Mr S N Sondur and Dr Rio D'Souza welcomed Mr K N Venkatesh. Later the Principal Dr Joseph Gonsalvis in his address explained the importance of students’ projects being sponsored by KSCST.
The main speaker of the day Mr S N Sondur briefed about how KSCST has been funding projects for years together. He mentioned about the number of students applying for the fund every year from various colleges across Karnataka. He also stated that KSCST is well recognised as one of the best councils. He applauded St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor for having won the 40th series of KSCST student project competition cum exhibition in year 2016-17. Ms Shravya of VI SEM ECE compered the program and proposed vote of thanks.
Later, 81 projects were assessed by the experts from 10 AM - 3 PM. The experts appreciated the co-operation of St Joseph Engineering College, the host college.
The result of the projects which will be entering the final evaluation would be announced shortly by KSCST, IISc Campus Bangalore.
