Alvida 2018: Farewell to the Class of 2018

A Common farewell programme Alvida 2018 for final year PG/UG students was organized in Kalam Auditorium, V floor, Academic Block II at 11 am on May 11, 2018. The Programme started with an invocation. The invocation was followed by the presentation of farewell video showcasing the past four year’s memories of final year students at SJEC.  Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal, St Joseph Engineering College, welcomed the gathering. On behalf of staff of SJEC, Ms Evita Coelho raised the toast for outgoing students. In her toast she mentioned that the college remains thankful for the uncommon zeal the outgoing batch has demonstrated towards studies, in their relationship with the teachers, management, the junior students, and even among themselves. This batch has left behind a very good legacy for the junior and in-coming students to follow. She also gave a call to be good ambassadors of this college. She also said that let the words of God guide you as you journey to greatness. Think big thoughts and be optimistic in whatever you do.

On behalf of students of SJEC Mr Vaibhav Shetty, third Year Mechanical Engineering raised the toast to final year students. On behalf of all final year students, Ms Vinisha Selma Vegas from 4th year EEE and Mr Chetan Pinto from 4th year ECE delivered reply to the toast. The Chief Guest of the farewell function, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis in his address said that the achievements of outgoing batch of students in academic discourse and in sports are indeed acknowledged. He also said that as you move outside there are challenges awaiting you, and with the help of skills and knowledge imparted at you in SJEC, you would be surely able to overcome them. Under our guidance, you have attained this impressive milestone in your life with great honour and integrity.

The President of Farewell function Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’ Souza, Director-SJEC in his presidential address mentioned that being tough with them at times does is to prepare them for a greater challenge ahead, and to nurture them to build a strong foundation for their next level. He also said that the college is proud of many achievements and accomplishments of the batch in almost all curriculum and extra curriculum activities.

Re. Fr Joseph Cardoza, Campus Counsellor in his address blessed the outgoing students with wisdom, courage and strength. Program ended with the vote of thanks delivered by the convener of Alvida 2018, Ms Jennifer C Saldanha.
