Civil: Workshop on Revit Architecture

The Department of Civil Engineering at SJEC organized a Two-Day Workshop on Revit Architecture on 9th and 10th July, 2018. The Workshop aimed at providing a platform to enhance knowledge on the software of Revit Architecture. It is a robust design and documentation software application created by Autodesk for architects and building professionals. The tools and features that make up Revit are specifically designed to support building information modeling (BIM) which supports modeling and works on the imported AutoCAD file 2D file to 3D model.

The inauguration of workshop was held at Bishop Aloysius Paul Hall on 9th July, 2018 at 9:30 am.  The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director – SJEC. Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal- SJEC, was the Chief Guest. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Chief of R&D - SJEC was the Guest of Honor. Dr Nalini Rebello, HOD, Department of Civil Engineering and Ms Vani D, Assistant Professor / Convener of the Workshop were present on the dais. Mr Mithun N Devadiga, Junior Design Engineer, GKW CONSULT GmbH was the Resource Person for the workshop. 

Dr Nalini Rebello welcomed the gathering. Mr Chitharanjan M, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at SJEC provided an introduction to the workshop. Dr Rio D’Souza emphasized on the software, highlighting the need of keeping updated with the latest softwares. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza in his presidential address mentioned about the innovations in technology over the years and requested the civil community to find solutions to prevent failures of the structures.

The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks by Convener Ms Vani D. Ms Ivy Savia Dantis, Assistant Professor compered the programme.

After the inaugural function, sessions commenced in the CAD lab with a brief introduction to the software by the Resource Person. There were around 30 participants, including participants from other Colleges, alumni, current VI semester students and Faculty from the Department of Civil Engineering.
