The
Inauguration of the Electrical & Electronics Student Association (EELS) was
held on 3rd October 2018 at 2.00pm in the Bethania Hall. Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash
Dsouza – Director, SJEC presided over the inaugural ceremony. Mr Adarsh
Hasandka, Power Systems Researcher, National Renewable Energy Laboratory USA
graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Guest of honour was Rev Fr Rohith D’Costa,
Assistant Director and Dr Rio D’souza, Principal. Mr Ajithanjaya Kumar M K-
Head of the Department, Ms Chaithra Shetty, Staff Coordinator and Mr Christon
Kenneth Dsouza-Student Coordinator, EELS were the dignitaries on the dais.
The
programme began with a invocation by the E&E students Ms Evon Sequeria and
Mr Christon K Dsouza. Mr Christon Kenneth Dsouza, Final year student welcomed the
dignitaries and introduced the chief guest to the gathering. The EELS
association was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Ms Shivani Thumbe,
Final year student presented the report of EELS association activities held
during the academic year 2017-18 and proposed the action plan for the academic
year 2018-19. Dr Rio D’souza -Principal, SJEC motivated the students to take up
new challenges and succeed in the same. Mr Adarsh Hasandka inspired students to
stay focused in academics and achieve their goals. He also advised the students
to become strong in their fundamentals that will be the keystep for success.
The meritorious students who secured highest
marks in each subject during the last academic year were presented with
certificate of merit, as a gesture of appreciation, Mr Adarsh Hasandka and Mr
Ajithanjaya Kumar M K honoured the meritorious students.
Rev
Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza- Director, SJEC, in his presidential address,
emphasized the need to develop good knowledge of the subject and to be updated
with current trends in electrical engineering.
Finally
the chief guest was felicitated with a memento by the Director-Rev Fr Wilfred
Prakash D’Souza. The formal event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered
by Ms Shreya M, Final Year Student. The programme was compered by Ms Sharadhi,
Final Year Student.
The
formal inaugural ceremony was followed by a technical talk on “Electric
Vehicle” by the Chief Guest. An Informal Function was arranged by the students
to welcome the 2nd year students into the Department of Electrical &
Electronics Engineering. Games were conducted for students.
