Jan 28, 2017

SJEC is happy to announce the Re-Accreditation of four of its B.E. Programs by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, for a period of three years from July 2016 to June 2019. The NBA Expert Team had visited the college from 14th to 16th October 2016 and rigorously assessed the four departments of Computer Science & Engg, Mechanical Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg and Electronics & Communication Engg. They have appreciated the Infrastructure, Management, Faculty, Student Contributions and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices adopted in the college. OBE is the quality assurance mechanism adopted for engineering programs by NBA when India became a signatory of the Washington Accord in June 2014.

The four programs were first accredited under OBE by NBA in November 2013. With the current achievement, these four programs join an elite class of programs which have continuous accreditation status under OBE for more than two years, in Karnataka. The college is committed to offer education of the highest quality to all its students and is actively working towards accreditation of all its programs in the near future.

The college is completing 15 years of its existence and currently has more than 2500 students on campus. It has become the destination of choice for engineering seat aspirants in this coastal region. Candidates are attracted to the good infrastructure, academic ambience, discipline on campus, excellent placements, competent faculty, and encouragement given to technical, cultural and sports activities.

Among recent achievements of the college the following are noteworthy:

·       Research Projects worth Rs 40 Lakhs awarded to faculty by VGST, Karnataka and Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Gujarat.

·       Three VTU Ranks for MTech (CAMS) and Two Gold Medals for B.E. (Civil) bagged by students for the year 2015-16.

·       All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) developed by SJEC-SAE Chapter secured 18th All-India Rank in SAE Virtual Baja Round and also won the Best Performer Award at Enduro Student India 2017 competition at Coimbatore.
