About SAEINDIA Student Collegiate Club

SAEINDIA has over 40,000 student members in more than 328 collegiate clubs located all over India as on March 2013. Collegiate clubs provide practical exposure as a professional engineering society and as

a focal point for campus engineering programs and projects.

Applicants must be students pursuing studies leading to any bachelor, masters, or doctoral degree in Engineering Colleges approved by AICTE..

SAEINDIA Collegiate clubs offer student members well organized programs and activities, fellowship, and leadership experience. SAEINDIA student members are also entitled to many of service available to SAEINDIA members.

SAE activities:

SAEINDIA Engineering Education Board is responsible for developing, conducting and maintaining various programs and activities for the Knowledge and Skill enhancement of Engineering Student Members and Engineering Faculty Members. Following are the list of activities.

  1. BAJA SAEINDIA: The BAJA SAE tasks the students to design, fabricate and validate a single seater four - wheeled off road vehicle to take part in series of events spread over a course of 3 days that test the vehicle for the sound engineering practices that have gone into it, the agility of the vehicle in terms of gradability, speed, acceleration and maneuverability characteristics and finally its ability to endure that back breaking durability test.
  2. SUPRA SAEINDIA: This event challenges young minds to compete as teams in designing a Formula category vehicle. As a one year long challenge across multiple stages comprising of design defense (“Virtual Supra” in event language), multiple rounds of technical inspections and actual construction of the vehicle, this event helps shape future engineers through competitive spirit and encompasses all elements of a vehicle building for aesthetics in design, to the choice of parts, through structure design and modeling, to fabrication and testing. This event sets the stage to assess the capability for teamwork, entrepreneurship, leadership and management skills of the 'students
  3. EFFI-CYCLE: “EFFI-CYCLE” derived from Efficient-Cycle promote the objective of providing opportunity to the students to conceive, design and fabricate a three wheel configuration vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power and capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The vehicle must be aerodynamic, engineered for performance and safety and ergonomically designed. The objective is to promote innovation and generate consciousness amongst the young engineers towards environment friendly mobility solution. SINE 2015-Student Industry Education program is a forum established by the SAEINDIA Off-Highway board to provide exposure of Off-highway industry to women engineering students and engage more women engineers with this industry. Fifty women students will be selected from various engineering institutes across the country. They will undergo two weeks of learning through industry visits, product and technology trainings, and personality development courses.
  4. Career Start: Career start is a yet another fit into SAEINDIA’s mission towards development of young skilled work force for automotive industry in India.
  5. Your Future in Automotive: Your Future in Automotive was created by FISITA: the International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies, to help students and young people everywhere find out more about studying engineering at university and about the many exciting career opportunities for engineers in today’s automotive industry.
  6. SAE Supermileage: The Supermileage competition provides engineering and technology students with a challenging design project that involves the development and construction of a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Vehicles are powered by a small four-cycle engine. The vehicles will run a specified course with the vehicle obtaining the highest combined kilometers per liter (miles per gallon) rating plus design segment points winning the event. Students have the opportunity to set a world fuel economy record and increase public awareness of fuel economy. Engines are donated by Briggs & Stratton
  7. SAE Aero Design competition is intended to provide undergraduate and graduate engineering students with a real-life engineering challenge. SAE Aero Design features three classes of competition-Regular, Advanced, and Micro. The importance of interpersonal communication skills is sometimes overlooked, yet both written and oral communication skills are vital in the engineering workplace. To help teams develop these skills, a high percentage of a team's score is devoted to the design report and the oral presentation required in the competition.

SJEC secures Best Performer Award at ESI 2017

The Team SJEC Racing of SJEC initiated under the SAEINDIA SJEC Collegiate Club secured the Spirit of ESI award in recognition to their outstanding overall performance in ENDURO STUDENT INDIA – 2017, a National Level ATV racing championship held from January 5th to 9th, 2017 at Gee Dee Driving School, Coimbatore - Tamil Nadu. They have also secured 13th Overall ranking out of 99 teams bettering institutions like IIT-Hyderabad, IIT K, BITS Pilani, MIT Manipal and RVCE Bangalore.

In the event, every ATV had to pass through static, dynamic and endurance tests. Static tests include Design, Cost and Sales. Dynamic tests consist of Acceleration, Sprint, and Manoeuvrability. The ATV designed and developed exclusively by SJEC Racing Team named TURTLE achieved 16th place in design, 4th in manoeuvrability and 10th place in Endurance. A final score of 683 out of 1000 points enabled SJEC to secure 13th rank. The result makes SJEC eligible for direct entry to next year’s event.

SJEC Congratulates the Students on this wonderful achievement.

Enduro Student India is an exclusive student design competition which has been conceived and conducted exclusively by Delta Inc. Kolkata.
