The National Service Scheme and Youth Red Cross units of St Joseph Engineering College, in collaboration with the Alumni Association, SJEC Foundation, and Father Muller’s Medical College Hospital, Mangalore, successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on 4th October 2024. The camp was held from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM at Fr Fred Memorial Hall, SJEC.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and provide students and staff with an opportunity to contribute to this noble cause. Blood donation is a life-saving act that helps hospitals maintain an adequate supply of blood for patients in critical need, including those undergoing surgeries, treatments for chronic illnesses, and trauma care.
A team of skilled medical professionals from Father Muller’s Medical College Hospital was present to ensure that the donation process was conducted safely and efficiently. They meticulously followed all necessary health protocols to ensure the well-being of the donors.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various branches of the college. A total of 84 students came forward to donate blood, showcasing their commitment to social welfare and community service. The donors were provided with refreshments post-donation to help them regain energy and were also issued certificates of appreciation as a token of gratitude.
The success of the Blood Donation Camp would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the NSS and YRC volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth coordination of the event. Their efforts included registration of donors, maintaining order during the donation process, and assisting the medical team.
The camp concluded with positive feedback from both donors and the medical team. The overwhelming response from the students highlighted their sense of empathy and responsibility towards society. Events like this not only help save lives but also foster a spirit of compassion and community service among young individuals.
