Iftar Gathering at Lobo’s River View

Objective of the Activity:
The objective of the Iftar gathering was to promote interfaith harmony, strengthen inter- organisational relationships, and provide a platform for student leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue on issues affecting students and society. The gathering aimed to foster mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration among different student organisations.

Description of the Activity:
The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) was represented at the gathering by Ms. Salomi D’Souza, President, AICUF Karnataka and AICUF SJEC, and Ms. Danica Pereira, Media Personnel, AICUF SJEC.

The programme commenced at approximately 6:30 PM and was hosted by the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), Mangalore. Leaders from Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) were also present.

The event began with a warm welcome and an introductory session. Representatives of each organisation introduced themselves and shared insights into their vision, objectives, key activities, and social causes. This exchange helped participants gain a clearer understanding of each organisation’s values and initiatives.

A significant part of the gathering involved a meaningful discussion on issues affecting students and society. The conversation focused on the role of youth in building a responsible and inclusive society. Emphasis was placed on leadership, active citizenship, youth participation in social change, and communal harmony. The discussion also explored possibilities for future collaboration among the organisations.

The gathering concluded with Iftar, where sharing the meal symbolised solidarity, brotherhood, and interfaith harmony.

Conclusion:
The Iftar gathering was a meaningful and enriching experience. It fostered mutual respect, strengthened dialogue, and encouraged collaboration among student leaders. The programme successfully promoted unity in diversity and highlighted the importance of youth engagement in building a harmonious society.
