The NABL Awareness Program workshop was held on January 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore, featuring Dr. Srikanth R., Director of NABL-QCI Regional Office, Bengaluru, and his team. Ms. Sinchana, Assistant Professor and MC, welcomed the participants, and the session began with a prayer. Dr. Yajneshwaran, Head of the Department, formally welcomed the resource persons, followed by a floral welcome by Rev. Fr. Kennith Crasta. Dr. Chandrashekar introduced Dr. Srikanth, who outlined the workshop's objectives. The event concluded with a presidential address by Rev. Fr. Kennith Crasta and a vote of thanks.
NABL Gunvatta Yatra Presentation
Dr. Srikanth R. led the first session, providing an overview of NABL Gunvatta Yatra and its role in ensuring quality standards in testing and calibration. He explained NABL's third-party assessments across various fields such as biological, chemical, electrical, mechanical, forensic, and IT testing. NABL accreditation, complying with ISO/IEC 17011:2017, enhances the credibility of laboratories both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Srikanth also discussed NABL's role in the Quality Control Orders (QCOs), ensuring product compliance with government-issued standards for consumer safety. Over 490 products are currently covered under QCOs, with more to be added soon. He also highlighted product-based accreditation, which guarantees comprehensive product testing according to industry standards.
Dr. Srikanth concluded by emphasizing NABL’s crucial role in enhancing the credibility of laboratories, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving product reliability and consumer safety. The session deepened participants' understanding of NABL’s vital contribution to India's testing infrastructure. Ms. Aswathy C M, Assistant Professor and program convenor, delivered the vote of thanks.
