A technical talk on Engineering – School to field”’ was hosted from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm for civil engineering students at Prerana Hall. Ms. Aswathy, Assistant Professor welcomed the resource person Mr. Chinnagiri Gowda, Rtd Principal, Karnataka Govt. Polytechnic Bantawal. The floral welcome was done by Assistant Professor, Mr. Govinda Krishna M.  Er. SubramanyaPrabhu, Er. Kennith Dsouza and Er. Arun Raj from ACCE, Mangalore Chapter were also noted for their presence. Later, the resource person addressed the significance of the topic, “Engineering – School to field” as one of the most fundamentals of Civil which a every engineer should inculcate. Further, he added and showed few real practices in the construction site. He practically demonstrated and highlighted the significance of orientation of beams and columns. However, he also addressed about the few specific areas where, a role of civil engineer is significant and how the best ethical practices can contribute to the betterment of the society. Finally, he concluded his talk by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity given by SJEC to deliver a talk.

Later, Ms. Sinchana, Assistant Professor welcomed the other resource person Er. RajendraKalbavi.  The floral welcome was done by Assistant Professor, Dr. Nishitha Dsouza. The session started with the introduction to the topic” Smart Water Management”. In the beginning, he presented various types of buildings which are constructed with the sustainable and economical materials. He also mentioned to the students to visit to Nirmithi Kendra to get a good practical exposure. Further, he added the necessity to reduce the excessive use of water in the construction sector to meet the water crisis. The students showed active participation which was addressed by the resource person as a positive response. Finally, the session was concluded with the facilitation of the resource person by the head of the department and Dr. Prakash K G. At last, the session was concluded by Dr. Nishitha proposing vote of thanks.
