Workshop on “Basics of Arduino”.

A one day hands on training session on "Basics of Arduino” was organized by the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized under the EELS Association for the 3 rd year students. The objective of the training was to impart practical knowledge on working with Arduino microcontroller. Mr Prajwal, 8th sem, E& E was the main resource person. Mr Avinash, Ms Jyothi, Ms Amrutha from 8 th semester E&E volunteered the session. A total of 28 students participated in the session.

The syllabus in study of microcontroller was limited to 8051 microcontroller. To bridge the gap between the syllabus and the real world problem, training session was organised. The motive of training was to enhance knowledge on different kinds of Arduino boards, and how to code them.

A brief introduction was given on the arduino module and online stimulator called TinkerCad. All the pins of the arduino were explained and a hands-on session was conducted on TinkerCad, starting with simple circuits such as blinking of single LED, blinking of alteating LED participants went on to complex circuits of potentiometer and a project on automatic street light. Different types of arduino boards such as Arduino UNO, Arduino Nano, Arduino Mega were introduced and arduino coding was explained. TinkerCad was introduced in the moing session of the workshop whereas hands-on sessions on Arduino IDE were conducted in the afteoon session. Participants built an Ultrasonic sensor and IR sensor based detection and ranging circuits.

The outcome of the training has enabled the 3rd year E&E students to gain an in-depth practical knowledge on using Arduino IDE for their mini projects and main project.
