VTU’s Full-Year Internship Option (Scheme B)

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an Awareness Session on VTU’s Full year Internship option (Scheme B) for the third-year students of St Joseph Engineering College on Monday, 01 September 2025, from 12:15 PM to 01:00 PM at Kalam Auditorium.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Sudheer M., Professor  & Dean – Academic Affairs, SJEC, Mangaluru.

Dr. Sudheer highlighted that VTU’s Internship Policy under the 2022 Scheme (Scheme B) mandates a one-year internship integrated with project work, requiring students to register and select opportunities exclusively through the university’s centralized internship portal..

It was highlighted that Scheme B is specifically designed for aspirants who wish to:

·         Pursue a minimum two-semester industry internship leading to project work.

·         Undertake a two-semester industry internship leading to a start-up venture.

·       Opt for a research internship of at least two semesters that culminates in project work with publications in        UGC/Scopus-indexed journals.

·   Continue with a one-year salaried internship through university or college placements that results in job confirmation, where students also complete individual project work under the guidance of a mentor, along with placement training.

During the session, emphasis was placed on timely portal registration, internship diary maintenance, and mentor/college oversight, along with the requirement that only organizations approved through the VTU portal are eligible to host students. Participants were also briefed about the different types of internships available and their significance in enhancing employability. Details regarding evaluation criteria and academic credit integration were explained clearly.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students raised queries related to eligibility, organization selection, and documentation procedures. The discussion ensured that students gained a comprehensive understanding of Scheme B and are well-prepared to make informed decisions.

The session was coordinated by Ms. Reshma K. J., Assistant Professor, Department of ECE.
