Master of Computer Applications(MCA) at St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangalore, in association with the Library and Learning Group (LLG) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), hosted a Two-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Innovation and Excellence in Teaching Practices" on August 9th and 10th, 2024, in Spoorthi Hall.
The event featured an inaugural ceremony with traditional lamp lighting, welcoming remarks by Dr. Hareesh B, Associate Professor and Head of the MCA Department, and keynotes from Chief Guest Dr. Rio D’Souza Principal-SJEC, and President Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza Director of SJEC, emphasizing innovative teaching methods. The inaugural program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Pavana Kumara B, Head -IQAC and the Convenor of the FDP. The program attracted 30 faculty members, including attendees from neighboring colleges, highlighting a commitment to enhancing pedagogical practices. Day one sessions included discussions led by Dr. Rio D’Souza on understanding contemporary learners, Dr. Shreeranga Bhat on research methodologies, and Dr. Kanmani B on program outcomes. Day two focused on learning theories presented by Dr. Vijayalakshmi M and Dr. Soumya Narayan, and the use of generative AI tools for educators by Dr. Venugopala PS. The program concluded with a valedictory ceremony led by Dr. Venugopala PS, reinforcing the importance of faculty development, Dr Rajesh K Associate Professor, Department of Physics, coordinator of FDP read the report followed by gratitude expressed by Ms. Priyadarshini P.
