EEE dept. in association with EELS organized a Technical talk on Traction Power Supply for 7 th semester EEE students on 02.12.2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Ms. Prarthana Deepak, Alumnus Batch 2016, Junior Engineer, 33/11KV substation, Kankanady MESCOM delivered the talk. The technical talk was a part of beyond syllabus activity relevant to the 7 th -semester course on Electrical Power Utilization (18EE742), Module 4: Electric Traction Systems.
Resource Person was Ms. Prarthana Rao, Alumnus -Batch 2016, Engineer @MESCOM , Mangaluru
Ms. Prarthana in her talk spoke about the advantages of electric traction over conventional systems, the transformation in Indian Railways with mode Electric trains, various voltage levels AC & DC systems, pantograph systems, different types of transformers design, need for AC & DC motors, mechanical and electrical aspects of traction systems. Finally, she motivated the students to take up competitive exams in Railway Board to serve and make a difference in Indian Railways
