The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit NMPT Mangaluru on 2 nd November 2018 for V Semester students. Three Faculty members (Mr Vijay H, Mr Chitranjan M and Ms Apoorva K V) accompanied a group of 70 students. New Mangalore Port is a shipping port and the visit was aimed to understand the layout of the port and how actually the various processes like halting of the ship, ship/vessel repair takes place. The visit helped the students in enhancing the knowledge and the students were able to practically understand the concepts pertaining to loading & unloading of cargo, berthing of ship, docking etc. Furthermore, it made students to understand the importance of safety required in harbor to avoid accidents.
