St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the SJEC-AICTE IDEA Lab, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Industry Innovation Group, and InnoVenture-SJEC, successfully organized Srujan Shibir: Ignite Your Entrepreneurial Journey! on April 21, 2025. The event, conducted in association with Section Infin-8 Foundation (SI-8), Mangaluru, aimed to inspire and guide students on the path of innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr. INV. Shivakiran S Makam, a noted innovator and startup ecosystem enabler, served as the resource person and delivered an engaging session at the Kalam Auditorium, AB II. Approximately 190 undergraduate and postgraduate students from various engineering disciplines enthusiastically participated in the event, gaining valuable insights into startup ideation, innovation, and impact-driven entrepreneurship.
The vibrant morning session was followed by a focused afternoon meeting involving the college management, deans, and senior faculty members. This strategic gathering aimed to chart out a roadmap for establishing an incubation centre within the college campus. Discussions centered around building a sustainable innovation ecosystem, fostering student-led ventures, and creating infrastructure that supports ideation to implementation. The initiative marked a significant step towards positioning the institution as a hub for entrepreneurial development and innovation-driven education.
