The Workshop on Advanced Manufacturing Process, organized by the SJEC AICTE IDEA Lab in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was conducted for diploma students from KPT Mangaluru and GPT Bantwal. The programme aimed to provide students with practical exposure to modern prototyping and advanced manufacturing technologies. Each session began with a 30-minute introduction, followed by hands-on activities involving the 3D printer, CNC wood router, 3D scanner, and laser cutting machine. Students were given opportunities to understand the working principles, applications, and basic operation of these technologies and experience how digital designs can be transformed into physical components and prototypes.
The workshop was conducted over four days, with 31 students from KPT Mangaluru participating on 5 October 2026 and 6 October 2026, and 28 students from GPT Bantwal participating on 12 October 2026 and 13 October 2026. The hands-on sessions were conducted in two parallel batches, covering the 3D printer and CNC wood router in the morning and the 3D scanner and laser cutting machine later in the session, with the activities coordinated by Dr. Vijay V S and Mr. Rajesh Belchada. The programme provided the participants with valuable practical exposure to digital fabrication and rapid prototyping, enhancing their understanding of how advanced manufacturing technologies can be used to convert engineering ideas and designs into functional prototypes
