The Mechanical Engineering Department organized a formal inauguration for the Students Association - TORQUE – on 28 August 2014, at 2:30 pm, in the College Auditorium, Academic Block II.
Dr Vijay H Desai, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, NITK Surathkal was the Chief Guest of the program. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, presided over the function. Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Director in-charge, and Rev Fr Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director, were the guests of honour. Dr Raju K, HOD, Mechanical Engineering; Mr Shreeranga Bhat, Coordinator TORQUE, and Mr Anil M Rego, Co-Coordinator TORQUE; were also present on the dais.
Mr Glen Rodrigues, President of TORQUE, welcomed the dignitaries. The inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp and the oath ceremony was conducted by Mr Shreeranga Bhat. Dr Raju K introduced the Chief Guest, Dr Vijay H Desai. In his speech, Dr Desai motivated the students to try and study engineering with a different perspective and shift from a teaching centric to leaing centric education system. He shed light on the various avenues which are at the disposal of a student on completing his graduation in Mechanical Engineering. He urged the students to take up higher studies and enter into the field of research. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis delivered the Presidential address. Rev Fr Ajith Menezes urged the students to take active part in the association activities. Mr. P. Varun Kajava, Vice President, TORQUE proposed the vote of thanks.
