ME - Torque: Workshop on NDT

 

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with V&G Industrial Testing Laboratory Pvt. Ltd, Baikampady – Mangaluru organized a one-day workshop on Non Destructive Testing (NDT) on 12 th April, 2016.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr Krishna Hegde, General Manager – Technical Service at MRPL – Mangaluru, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr Ganesh S. Tahashildar, Quality Manager at V&G Industrial Testing Laboratory was the key resource person for the workshop. The dignitaries were welcomed by the HOD – Mechanical. The Chief Guest, Mr. Krishna Hegde and Mr. Ganesh S. Tahashildar, addressed the gathering focusing on the importance and opportunities available for the young engineers in the field of nondestructive testing. Rev. Fr Joseph Lobo, Director addressed the gathering regarding nondestructive approaches in life. The President of the ceremony, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis appreciated the efforts of HOD and Staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for providing a great leaing opportunity and practical exposure to various methods employed in non-destructive testing technology. He also urged the students of the Department to participant actively to such leaing opportunity which bridges between theory and practical implementation.

Mr Hegde and Mr Tahashildar delivered lectures on the applications of NDT techniques with relevance to various industries. The importance and opportunities available for the young engineers in the field of nondestructive testing was also highlighted. The technical sessions was followed by an industrial visit to V&G Industrial Testing Laboratory to facilitate hands-on experience of NDT techniques. The company representatives conducted demonstrations on various NDT tools and techniques used by them in identifying defects.

Rev. Fr Joseph Lobo Director – SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis Principal – SJEC, Dr Sudheer M HOD – Mechanical, and Mr Swaraj Lewis – Coordinator of TORQUE, were the other dignitaries present.
