Session on Enhancing Reading and Learning Skills Through Authentic Literature by Dr. K. S. Ali

On the 29th of August, 2024, the Department of Business Administration at St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Library and Learning Group (LLG), hosted a thought-provoking session titled "Authentic Literature to Enhance Reading and Learning Skills." The session featured Dr. K. S. Ali, Chief Librarian at the Central Library of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte, Mangalore, as the esteemed guest speaker. Dr. Felcy Dsouza, Chief Librarian at SJEC, was also present at the event.

The event began with Roshni Seema Rodrigues, who graciously welcomed the participants and introduced Dr. K. S. Ali. Roshni's introduction highlighted Dr. Ali's extensive experience and contributions to the library science and information management field.

Dr. K. S. Ali delivered an insightful presentation emphasising the importance of accessing authentic literature to enhance reading and learning skills. He introduced numerous paid and open-access resources that could significantly aid students and professionals in their academic pursuits. The session also highlighted practical approaches to effectively identifying and utilizing these resources, providing the participants with actionable strategies to enhance their research and study practices.

In addition to emphasizing the importance of accessing authentic literature and utilizing credible resources, Dr. K. S. Ali also shared valuable tips on effective reading strategies. He guided the participants on how to approach reading in a way that enhances comprehension and retention, maximizing the value of their study time and academic efforts.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and gain further insights from Dr. Ali.
