A one-day workshop on the topic IP Security was conducted by CIPHER- student association and IIEDC for the students of Department of Computer Science and Engineering for pre-final year students. The session was conducted at Bishop Aloysius Hall, St. Joseph Engineering College – Vamanjoor, Mangalore on 27 th of October, 2018. The programme commenced at 9:30 am with a welcome address given by Ms. Darly Saldanha followed by a silent prayer.
The resource person for the day was Mr. Rahul Dutta, an Associate Engineer in J P Morgan, Hyderabad. The HOD of the Computer Science, Dr Sridevi Saralya welcomed the resource person and addressed the gathering, following which Mr. Dutta commenced the workshop.
Initially, a pre-session assessment was conducted to judge the calibre and knowledge of the students. This was followed by the moing session on the topics Data Encryption Standard, Deffie-Hellman Algorithm, DoS attack, User imitation attack and how to overcome them. In the afteoon, a hands-on session was conducted on Creation of VPN tunnel for Secure Data transmission for Linux and Windows along with the implementation of the topics covered in the moing session to help the students inculcate practical knowledge on this domain. The faculty in-charge and student coordinators were also present for the session.
The workshop ended with a post-session assessment at 5:00 pm following which Ms. Darly Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks. A memento was presented by Mrs. Gayana M N to Mr. Dutta as a token of appreciation. The entire workshop was coordinated by IIEDC coordinator Dr Usha Divakarla in co-ordination with CIPHER association.
