A special lecture series was organized by the Department of Business Administration in association with “Industry and Innovation Group” of SJEC on 24 th October 2019.
The Resource person for the session was Ms Shilpa, Proprietor of Hallimane Rotti, Mangaluru. Dr Anjali Ganesh, Professor MBA introduced the resource person and welcomed her to the gathering.
Ms Shilpa started her session recollecting her past and connecting it to the necessity for her to start a small mobile canteen for her survival. This canteen business flourished over the period and she got good amount of recognition through social media and print media. Having read about her single-handed fight to lead a decent life on social media, Mr. Mahindra, tweeted expressing his desire to partner with the single mother and said: “Delighted to help Shilpa expand her business”. She received a Mahindra Bolero pick-up vehicle as an ‘investment’ in her venture by Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra. Shilpa is a recipient of Mahindra Transport Excellence Award 2017 for her achievements.
Her message to the students is to never give up in life and always be independent. She has set an example to be an entrepreneur with an innovative idea and minimum investment and she encouraged students to be an employment creator rather than employment seeker.
The session ended with question answer session and a thanking note by Dr Anjali Ganesh.
