INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS DAY PARTICIPATION

International Volunteers Day (IVD) 2025 was celebrated on December 5, 2025, at St. Agnes College, Mangaluru. The programme was organized by Yuvanika Foundation and Health Volunteers in collaboration with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) India, with the participation of over 1,200 youth and volunteers. 

A total of 97 participants from the AICUF SJEC & NSS Unit actively took part in the programme, enthusiastically engaging in the sessions and contributing to the spirit of service and volunteerism showcased during the celebration. Their active participation reflected strong commitment, discipline, and a genuine dedication to social responsibility.

The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Shri U. T. Khader, who highlighted the role of volunteers as agents of positive social change. A virtual address by Mr. Christian Hainzl, Regional Manager, UN Volunteers (Asia & Pacific), emphasized volunteerism’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Shri Ivan D’Souza, MLC, and Smt. Meenakshi Arya, IAS, Assistant Commissioner of Mangaluru, encouraged youth to adopt volunteerism as a way of life. The programme was presided over by Sr. Dr. M. Venissa A.C., Principal of St. Agnes College. 

A motivational session on the importance of volunteerism was conducted by Shri M. Jaikishen Bhat, Principal, Karavali Institute. Mr. Raghuveer Souterpete, Programme Coordinator, Yuvanika Foundation, and Mr. Rishi Bansiwal, Director, Health Volunteers, highlighted volunteering opportunities for youth. 

Outstanding volunteers including Cadet Celine D’Silva, Cadet Sonal Jessica Crasta, and Mr. Hitesh Bangera were felicitated for their achievements and service. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Gayathri B. K., Coordinator, St. Agnes College, echoing the theme “Every Contribution Matters.
