The talk on ‘Magis Leadership Today’ took place on 15th July 2024 at Prerna Hall, with Rev. Fr. Dr. Maxim Dias S J, AICUF State Advisor, Karnataka as the resource person. The dignitaries present on the stage were SJEC Principal Dr. Rio D’souza, Dean- Student Welfare Dr. Ramananda H S, AICUF, SJEC Unit Faculty Coordinator Mr. Joysun Dsouza and AICUF, SJEC Unit President Mr. Sohan Austin Mascarenhas. The event commenced with a prayer song, invoking a sense of reverence.
Mr. Joysun Dsouza extended a warm welcome, setting the stage for the day's proceedings. Mr. Sohan Austin Mascarenhas gave a brief introduction of the chief guest.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Maxim Dias S J started the session by explaining the meaning of the word MAGIS. Magis-driven leadership inevitably leads to heroism. Heroism begins with each person considering, internalizing, and shaping his or her mission. Whether one works within a large organization or alone, no mission is motivating until it is personal. And it is sustainable only when one makes the search for magis a reflexive, daily habit.
He later spoke about the current situation of our country and how we are seeing the emergence of Two Indias; One for the rich and the other for the poor. This also included him explaining the history of 100 years of AICUF in India divided in 5 periods; The Colonial Period, Nehru Period, Emergency Period, Globalization Period and Covid Period.
He referred The Spiritually Alive Community, Socially Conscious Community and Intellectually Alert Community as the three pillars of AICUF.
At the end of the session, our beloved Principal Dr. Rio D’souza honoured Fr. Maxim with a memento. The dignitaries and participants were served with snacks at the end of the session.
