The Library & Learning Group, in collaboration with SJEC Alumni Association and SJEC Foundation, organized a “BOOK DONATION DRIVE” from 5th to 17th May, 2025 at SJEC. The event was open to all students, faculty members and staff of the college.
The book donation drive was an initiative to bridge the gap in access to educational resources for underprivileged children.
This book donation drive mainly focused on collecting gently used storybooks and literature books for children aged 7- 18 years in the underprivileged children's homes. The students, faculty members and other staff of SJEC were informed about the event in advance via poster, flyer, Instagram and messages. The collection boxes were placed at the respective Department Office and in the Central Library, where all the donors could donate the books.
The event proved to be a resounding success, as a total of 345 books were collected, covering books like short story books, fiction/nonfiction, self-help books, dictionaries, grammar, etc., in English/Kannada. In addition to the above, the required number of writing materials, such as notebooks, stationery and umbrellas, were purchased for donation.
All the collected books and purchased items are donated to the following beneficiary organizations on 26.05.2025 by the conveners of the event.
