Library Advisory Committee has organized User Awareness Training on "Knimbus Remote Access Solution & Digital Library, ASME & ASCE" on 28 th February 2019.

Dr Felcy D'Souza, Librarian, welcomed and introduced the resource person Mr. Girish Kulkai, Deputy Regional Manager, Global Information Systems and Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (GIST), Bangalore to the gathering.  The main objective of this session was to bring awareness and train the faculty and research scholars to access the VTU Consortium e-resources through Knimbus Remote Access Portal and Knimbus Digital Library, ASME & ASCE databases which would help in their research and publications and also to enhance the knowledge.

The Resource Person gave a detailed insight on all the VTU Consortium e-resources. He also highlighted the benefits of Knimbus Remote Access Portal which is an integrated platform for all e-resources.  He also briefed about the importance of publishing the research articles in scholarly jouals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science citation databases and thereafter its benefits to the departments, placements and institute ranking. He also detailed on how to create institutional repository, Web OPAC and how to find the author wise and institution wise usage of various e-resources.  He also briefed about the different type of search techniques which help to narrow down the search results.  There was a good response from the faculty and research scholars who have actively participated in the interactive session and cleared their doubts.  The session was informative and very useful.  At the end, Dr Anjali Ganesh, Professor and member of Library Advisory Committee honoured the resource person and Ms. Bhavya, Asst. Professor and Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Sheetal Feandes, Asst. Professor compered the programme.  Around 36 faculty/ research scholars and library staff participated in this programme.
