An Online Expert Talk on “Angel Investment & VC Funding: Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” was organized by Civil NexCon, Department of Civil Engineering, and the IPR Cell of IIG Group, St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru, on 28 August 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The session was delivered by Dr. Suprabha K. R., Associate Professor, School of Management, NITK Surathkal. The talk focused on creating awareness among students and faculty members about various avenues of startup funding and the role of investors in supporting early-stage entrepreneurial ventures.

The resource person discussed Angel Investment and Venture Capital, available startup funding opportunities, and the key factors that investors look for in startups. The participants were also introduced to the process of building and pitching a compelling business idea and the various stages involved in obtaining funding. The session highlighted the journey from innovation to investment, helping participants understand how promising ideas can be developed into viable entrepreneurial ventures.

The interactive session provided valuable insights into startup financing, investor expectations, business pitching, and the funding process. It encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship and consider suitable funding opportunities for transforming innovative ideas into sustainable ventures.

 The programme was coordinated by Dr. Aswathy C. M. and Ms. Sinchana K., with the support of the Industry and Innovation Group and the Department of Civil Engineering. The session was well received by the participants and served as a valuable platform for developing awareness about entrepreneurship and startup funding.
