The Department of Intelligent Computing and Business Systems (ICBS) and Development & Planning Group of Committees (DPG), in association with IUCEE, organized Session-6 of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Building Sustainable and Carbon-Neutral Campuses” for 25 selected faculty members of St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC). The programme was conducted from 12 August 2026 to 13 August 2026 at Spoorthi Hall, SJEC. Dr. Peeush Bishnoi, Director – IUCEE was the resource person for the event. This was the last session of 3-month FDP started in June.

A major component of the session was the preparation of the Phase-1 data acquisition plan, including identifying the required data, sources and responsibilities for collection. The participating teams worked on key sustainability areas such as Energy, Water, Waste, Transport, Health and Well-being, and Flora and Fauna. The teams presented their respective pre-launch plans and subsequently reviewed and refined them before final submission with the data that they have collected in the last two months.

The participants also prepared a three-month action plan for September, October and November 2026. The teams presented their plans and discussed the proposed activities and implementation strategies. The session further included a discussion on integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into existing courses, highlighting the importance of embedding sustainability concepts into academic and institutional practices done by Mr. Ajeeth.

Overall, the session provided a structured platform for faculty members to understand the requirements of sustainable and carbon-neutral campus development and to collaboratively develop data-driven, time-bound action plans for implementation at SJEC.
