Workshop on “Patent Drafting Insights for Computer-Related Inventions”

The Department of Intelligent Computing and Business Systems (ICBS), in association with the Research and Facilities Group, organized a workshop on “Patent Drafting Insights for Computer-Related Inventions” on 25th October 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Spoorthi Hall, St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru.

The session, conducted by Adv. Pranav Bhat, a distinguished patent attorney and intellectual property expert, provided valuable insights into patent laws, drafting techniques, and protection of software and computer-related inventions. He explained various forms of Intellectual Property (IP)—patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets—with examples, and discussed the Guidelines for Examination of Computer-Related Inventions (CRI Guidelines).

The workshop concluded at 4:50 PM with a vote of thanks by the Head of the Department. It was coordinated by Dr. Shabina Bhaskar, Associate Professor, and Dr. Vijetha U, Assistant Professor, ICBS, and witnessed the participation of 34 faculty members.
