Civil Engg. - World Water Day 2026: One Fingerprint, One Promise

The SJEC ECO Club, in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, the Culture and Community Group (CCG), and the NSS SJEC Unit, organized a special awareness activity on the occasion of World Water Day on 18 March 2026 at Block II and the Admin Block, SJEC, Mangaluru.

The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of water conservation and to encourage individual responsibility toward sustainable water usage.

The highlight of the program was an interactive activity titled “One Fingerprint, One Promise for Water.” As part of this initiative, students added their blue fingerprints to a dry tree canvas displayed at designated locations. This creative expression symbolized their personal commitment to conserving water, collectively transforming a barren tree into a vibrant representation of life, responsibility, and hope.

The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments throughout the day. It successfully engaged participants in a simple yet meaningful way, reinforcing the message that every small action contributes to a larger environmental impact.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Sinchana K (ECO Club) and Dr. Prathima S (CCG Chairperson), with support from Dr. Yajneshwaran B (Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering) and Ms. Prathibha K N (NSS Unit). Student coordinators, including Melroy Almeida, Keerthana Nair, and Ruben Saldanha, played a key role in organizing and managing the activity.
