The industrial visit to K.E.R.S., Krishnarajasagara Dam, Mysuru, was successfully conducted for II Year B.E. students from 20 December 2025 to 22 December 2025. The visit was effectively coordinated by Dr. Prakash K. G., Assistant Professor, and the students were accompanied by Mr. Ajeeth B. and Ms. Sinchana, Assistant Professors, Civil Department.

The industrial visit offered in-depth technical exposure to hydraulic and water resources engineering through a structured visit to the Karnataka Engineering Research Station (KERS) at KRS. Students studied scaled physical models used for evaluating spillways, stilling basins, canal regulators, energy dissipation arrangements, and river training works. Detailed explanations were provided on hydraulic similitude, discharge measurement techniques, flow visualization, sediment transport, and scour control methods. The interaction helped students understand how model studies support design optimization and safety assessment of hydraulic structures before field implementation.

The visit to the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam enabled students to examine gravity dam structural components, including spillways, gates, crest profile, inspection galleries, and outlet works. Technical discussions focused on reservoir operation, flood routing, water regulation for irrigation, and integration with hydropower generation. Overall, the visit effectively bridged theory and practice by demonstrating real-time applications of hydraulic design, dam engineering, and water resource management.
