The Department of Civil Engineering organised an industrial visit to IRC Ready Mix Concrete Plant and Ganesh Cement Spun Poles and Pipes factory at Industrial Area Baikampady and construction site visit to Westline Signature, Nanthoor, Mangaluru on 17th October 2019 for final year students. A total of 58 students participated in the visit. Mr Prashant Kurdekar, Ms Apoorva K V and Mr Ajeeth B accompanied the students during the visit.

The objective of the visit was to enhance the practical knowledge of students wherein students could experience the manufacturing process of RCC hume poles and ready-mix concrete. In the construction site of Westline Signature students were exposed to system formwork, bar bending, shear reinforcement and provision for HVAC in individual flats of the apartment. Project Manager Er. Kaushik Rao informed students that Westline Signature is the proposed tallest structure in south India of 53 floors and Mr Rajkiran Site Engineer briefed about the speciality of the technologies used in present structure and also gave insight knowledge about aluminium scaffolding & self-compacting concrete. Students were very interactive with industry experts and site engineers and pose numerous questions for better understanding.
