Pursuing Higher Education Abroad is Good or Bad Choice

The Office of Collaborations, in association with the Department of ICBS, organized a talk on “Pursuing Higher Education Abroad – A Good or Bad Choice?” on 7 August 2025 at Prerana Hall. The resource person, Mr. Abhishek Mitra, Country Head – Study Abroad Division, T.I.M.E. Pvt. Ltd., has over 20 years of experience with reputed organizations such as AT&T, Sprint PCS, McKinsey, IBM India, Airtel, Tata, and Kaplan (APAC). He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Rollins College, University of Florida, and an MBA in International Business from Stanford University – Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Mitra shared insights on the importance of GRE and GMAT for higher education abroad, guidance on course selection based on branch, skills, and career goals, and the differences between MS and MBA programs. He emphasized the benefits of applying for the Fall intake, scholarship opportunities, and adhering to application deadlines. Other key points included aligning course choices with desired work locations, opportunities for tuition waivers after the first semester, maintaining a CGPA of 7.5 or above, using faculty official email IDs, bank loan sanction letters for offer letters, part-time work regulations, and the importance of publications, club activities, and leadership roles.

The interactive session provided students with clarity on overseas education planning and motivated them to prepare strategically. The talk was coordinated by Dr Harivinod N, HOD, Ms Diana Monteiro, Collaborations Officer, and Ms Pratibha Gaonkar, Assistant Professor, ICBS.
